GALLERY INFORMATION

Over the past several years, Karolyn Sherwood Gallery has traversed a long and winding path, refining itself with each transition. 

Karolyn Sherwood first worked as a sales associate in a contemporary gallery in 1999.  In 2002, Sherwood became the sole owner of that gallery and changed the name to Karolyn Sherwood Gallery, thus the official beginning of the gallery as it is known today.  Sherwood created a gallery that specializes in elegant examples of contemporary fine art from the mid-20th Century to today.  The curatorial program at Karolyn Sherwood Gallery focuses on exhibiting mid-career artists with national and international acclaim, with basically an even split for those from the state of Iowa and artists from the East and West Coasts.  Sherwood has always heralded artists whose work stretches beyond plasticity and moves towards a transcendental aesthetic.

In the spring of 2007, Sherwood chose to close the brick-and-mortar gallery space to become a private dealer and consultant with an online gallery.
